Once per year the premier regulatory journal in China (circulation 500,000), Safety & EMC, publishes an edition in English. This year I was fortunate to have an article on EMC troubleshooting included in the May 2008 issue! This article goes through some basic theory on how differential- and common-mode currents are produced, and how they affect radiated emissions. I then describe several easy troubleshooting methods using low-cost probes and instruments. If you're an EMC engineer or hardware designer in Asia, please check it out.
